How often do you look at yourself in profile? Whether in a mirror or a photograph, we typically see ourselves face forward. But the rest of our world views us multi-dimensionally—from every angle. If you could view yourself as others do, you could see how a chin that’s too small or underdeveloped can undermine the balance of your entire face. It can also make your nose look larger and more conspicuous than it really is. And many times, a double chin may be the result of a chin that is too short.
Many of Dr. Lorenc’s chin augmentation patients are motivated to do something about their chins when they just happen to see a photograph that caught them in profile. Sometimes, chin augmentation is done at the same time as rhinoplasty, to bring your profile beautifully into perspective.
Chin augmentation is a simple procedure. If only a little augmentation is necessary, Dr. Lorenc will make a small incision inside your mouth or underneath your chin. He’ll create a small pocket above the chin bone and below the muscle, where he’ll place a custom-sized chin implant for a perfect, natural fit. The implant is positioned in the pocket where it will remain firmly in place. Any scar from an incision made under the chin will be negligible.
In a second surgical option, Dr. Lorenc makes an incision inside the mouth. Then he repositions a small portion of the chin bone. Since all of the surgery is done from inside the mouth, there is no visible scarring.
Following chin augmentation, Dr. Lorenc will apply a dressing that remains on the area for about three days. Swelling will recede within six weeks, and the results of this small yet dramatic difference will last a lifetime.
