Liposuction Surgery
After spending days and hours at the gym, you probably already know there are certain areas of fat in your body that are permanently resistant to exercise. In fact, you might think these areas of your body must be genetically programmed to resist weight loss. And you’d be absolutely correct.
That is, until you remove it with liposuction surgery. More and more men and women are turning to liposuction to remove those tenacious fat deposits that seem to cling resolutely to hips, buttocks, thighs, as well as on calves, upper arms, knees and under your chin.
When Dr.Lorenc recommends liposuction, his goal for your body is to give it graceful, new balance and symmetry. According to Dr. Lorenc, "Liposuction is a procedure that counteracts the patterns of weight gain and loss that most people encounter, because it can often transform the shape of a patient’s body." In some instances, Dr. Lorenc may recommend a tummy tuck in addition to liposuction surgery.
You may be among the many women who feel that their bodies are out of proportion because they look bottom heavy. Or, you lack graceful curves and tend to look lumpy. Men find that fatty deposits settle unattractively into "love handles" at the waistline. Or collect into jowls around the chin and neck, where it has an aging effect on even the most youthful face.
How does liposuction work? Says Dr. Lorenc, "The procedure permanently removes fat cells from specific areas of the body. Once removed, the cells cannot regenerate. Any weight that is regained tends to be more evenly distributed over the body."
When you confer with Dr. Lorenc, he will help you decide on the liposuction procedure appropriate for reaching your goals. Depending upon the area and amount of fat to be removed, he may suggest the tumescent technique or an ultrasonic-assisted procedure in conjunction with the tumescent injection. Either choice effectively removes resistant fat and promises rapidly accelerated recovery.
Liposuction begins with small incisions about one half inch in length. The fat is liquefied using ultrasonic energy. Then, Dr. Lorenc inserts a cannula, a miniature wand with an opening near the end that works with pressure suction to remove the unwanted fat located between the skin and muscles.
Depending upon the size and areas you wish to have treated, liposuction surgery can take from 45 minutes to two hours. Afterwards, a tight-fitting dressing will be placed over the area to aid your skin in conforming smoothly to its new contours. To ensure maximum compression, Dr. Lorenc may recommend that you wear a corset-like garment for two to three weeks.
For several days, following surgery, you may experience some numbness or discomfort. Protective bandages are usually removed after 48 hours. However, Dr. Lorenc will usually request that you wear a long-legged panty girdle for two weeks to help your skin re-form to its sleek new contours. Expect some swelling or bruising, which will subside within a month or two. There will be minimal scarring which will also fade over time.
All you will see are the results. And they can be dramatic. Saddlebags disappear. Legs and hips become thinner and shapelier. Chin and neck regain a sleeker, smoother appearance. Dr. Lorenc’s artistry, combined with his surgical expertise, sculpts the form, balance and proportion that can literally reshape your outlook on life.
