Cosmetic Nose Surgery in New York City

Nose Surgery ( Rhinoplasty )

Second only to your eyes, your nose is the most prominent facial feature, with its size and shape a most defining characteristic. But if you are unhappy with the appearance of your nose, you may be considering a different size or shape. Others considering nose surgery may wish to repair damage caused by an injury, and some just want to breathe more easily.

If you have been wondering how nose surgery might change your looks, improve your self-confidence or your breathing, Dr. Lorenc can consult with you about your concerns, expectations and the probable outcome of a nasal surgery procedure. While you are making a decision about nasal surgery, Dr. Lorenc will take a moment to discuss some additional facial procedures that may enhance the effects. Many patients elect to have chin augmentation or cheek implants at the same time to balance their facial features.

As an outpatient procedure, rhinoplasty usually takes about one hour under local or general anesthesia. Dr. Lorenc’s technique involves incisions inside the nose, where they are invisible, as he sculpts skin and tissue, along with bone and cartilage, into your desired new shape.

Following rhinoplasty surgery, you’ll be up and around within a day or two. Bruising around your eyes starts to fade within three to five days, and disappears totally within a few weeks. Subtle swelling of the nose will subside slowly. And although the change in your appearance will be immediate and dramatic, the final result may not be realized for weeks, or even months.

When rhinoplasty is performed for cosmetic purposes, it is usually not covered by health insurance. However, when nose surgery is performed to correct nasal problems that interfere with breathing, health coverage may apply. It is advisable to check with your insurance provider for information about the extent of this coverage.

Family and friends may say that they don’t see a major difference in your appearance. But that’s okay. As Dr. Lorenc reminds us, the idea is not to create a new nose, but to enhance the one you already have. Your final result will be an improvement that will last the rest of your life.
