The goal of breast augmentation, also known as breast enlargement or breast enhancement, is to increase breast size and/or correct breast asymmetry. During breast augmentation surgery, soft, silicone breast implants are implanted under the tissues of your chest to simulate natural breast tissue. Implants can be round or teardrop-shaped and may have a textured or smooth coating. They may be filled with either:

• Silicone gel, or
• Saline (salt water)

Although silicone gel implants are the first choice for surgeons for breast augmentation, saline-filled implants may be available upon request. In some cases, fat grafting may also be used to augment breast enhancement, with or without an implant. Breast augmentation surgery may be done in conjunction with a breast lift to help sagging breasts look fuller and more lifted.

Dr. Lorenc’s surgical objective with breast augmentation surgery is to achieve an enhanced, more symmetrical appearance to the breasts.

Who is an ideal candidate?

Many women consider breast augmentation surgery because they want larger breasts. You may also consider breast augmentation, though, if you wish to restore breast volume that was lost as a result of pregnancy, weight change, or aging. Whatever the reason, breast augmentation may be right for you if you wish to:

• Augment your breast size
• Improve your breast shape or symmetry
• Add proportion or cleavage

Other considerations that should be weighed when determining if breast augmentation is right for you include:

• Your health: No underlying health conditions that may make healing more difficult
• Your age: Breasts should be fully developed to avoid changes after surgery
• Your expectations: Individuals should approach breast augmentation surgery with positive and realistic expectations
