What is a Neck Lift?
Depending on your needs, you may choose from a mini-necklift, a neck liposuction or a combination necklift. Neck lifts are often done in conjunction with a face lift or chin lift to create a uniform youthfulness. In short, a neck lift involves making one-inch incisions under the chin or behind the ears to pull and tighten and remove loose skin. This is normally an outpatient procedure using IV sedation.
Who is an Ideal Candidate?
A neck lift may be right for you if you are a healthy individual between 40 and 60 years old. If you have loose skin or deep wrinkles in the neck. A good candidate for a neck lift has jowls or you do not have a lot of excess fat in the neck.
What to expect during the Procedure
Incisions are made beneath the chin and behind the ears. Skin is then pulled taut and lifted. After those steps are completed, any excess skin is removed.
Any bruising and swelling should subside in five to ten days. Oral pain medication can be taken after surgery if necessary. Sutures will stay in place for five to ten days, depending on the individual’s healing process.
